Beans, Beans by Plum Street Samplers. Stitched on 36 ct. Lakeside Linen Vintage Autumn Gold with Belle Soie Crow and Vanilla Pudding. I originally stitched the dog, as designed, on the piece and then thought…what the heck and changed it to a CAT. That's my Mick Jagger…named for his 'moves'.

I've also been working on my Snooty Parrots SAL with the Facebook group. I've finished my February assignment. This has been a fun stitch so far with plenty of time to finish each month.

Here's Heartstring Samplery's design 'Never Let You Go'. I had The Attic do a silk conversion for me because this sampler will be a special gift. More on that later in the year. I've really enjoyed stitching on this one and I love the saying. I'm ready to start stitching the huge red brick house and pasture full of farm animals and pets. It's a sweet piece.

And some great knitting as well. Kim, the infamous internet enabler see her blog here: www.threadheadsunite.blogspot.com , got me started on this one. It's the Elinya shawl by Ambah O'brien. It's an easy knit that is finished with a decorative picot border along the curved edge. I'm knitting it with the most yummy Madeline Tosh Merino Light in Graphite and Chamomile. Y.U.M is the only word for this fabulous yarn.

So, you can see I'm keeping my hands very busy this winter. Our weather here has been cold, then hot, then cold, then wet, then warm, then wet, then cold ….. and so on, and so on. So far though…no snow and that's a really good thing for Florida!!

I love their samplers. They are a joy to stitch. This one was especially fun because you can see that Adam is so very, very excited to see Eve !! Too much fun in store for Adam !!
I was quick enough to snag the Snow Bird Kit from With Thy Needle and Thread. The stitching was quick and I loved the colors. I just need to finish it up into the snowflake stand. It may be my one and only Christmas decoration. Oh no, wait, I have a berry wreath that I'll hang my Blackbird Designs stockings on for the front door. That'll probably be it.
I started another piece. This is Winter Floral Sampler by Knotted Tree NeedleArt. I'm stitching it on Lakeside Linen 40 Ct. Vintage Pear using the called for NPI Silks. I love the colors. I've raised quite a few beautiful peach poinsettia's so this stitching this design has pleasant memories associated with it. I also love to stitch Cardinals. I have several stitched pieces with Cardinals on them hanging around my home.
I can't tell you how much it meant to me. I remain heartbroken and tearful, but I suppose time will heal the heart. I stitched last week with friends and sobbed a couple of times talking about him. But you know, hugs and kind words from dear friends helps a whole bunch !!

I need to take a 'photo' taking class though. Both of these pics were taken with the same camera, same setting, same finger, same sofa, same room. I don't recall making any changes, but obviously I must have changed some setting.

This was a fun piece to work on because I have such fond memories of my great grandparents home, BUT, as much as I love punch needle with Valdani threads, I do not care for them one bit, not one bit as thread for counted cross stitch. I will keep my Valdani only for punch needle.

I provided my sweet stitching sister, Cathy, link to her blog here, with a DMC conversion for her piece as the Valdani called out on the pattern was and is not available. I suggested she use DMC #3777 for the border berries, the roof of the house and the outside of the pomegranate, #3830 for the inside of the pomegranate and the door on the house, and #356 for the Ohio Star motifs. Actually, these three DMC colors are called out on WTN&T limited/sold out piece, Snow Bird. I was lucky enough to score one of them and when I opened the package I was really, really happy to see what I thought were excellent DMC substitutes for the Valdani.

So happy, happy stitching to each and every one of you. Thanks for stopping by. All of your comments mean so much to me.
My sweet Cee-Lo Red took a turn for the worse this morning. After fighting a battle with cystitis he developed a blockage and unfortunately his bladder ruptured. Remember, he's my beautiful feral, garden cat and the longterm care he would have required would have been painful for both of us. The first time I ever picked him up and hugged and kissed him was this morning. And, sadly, it was the final time.
The piece is 18" long. I can tell you it was not a quick stitch. I frogged more than usual but it's finished and I'm more than happy that is it !

I started Manor at Peacock Hill from With Thy Needle and Thread. It's good to stitch with colored floss on a 35 ct. fabric. I hope to get to that beautiful peacock some time today!
Here's my Isabella Fox by Gigi R Designs. I ordered this piece from The Attic using their silk conversion. I loved putting in each and every stitch. I wished I were a better photographer. The colors are delightful. It was stitched on vintage sand dune.

I ordered a sample of the Attic's 50 count fabric and Gloriana Tudor Silk thread to see if I could stitch on such a small count fabric. I COULD !! I ordered some additional threads and quickly stitched up Dutch Strawberry by The Goode Huswife. I was pleasantly surprised that the fabric was really easy to stitch on. I tried different using needles but found the tapestry beading needle to be the only needle that worked. The other ones were like using a crochet hook to stitch with !! The Tudor silks are amazing. Here is the result of my adventure.

Girlfriends.....I'm just about there !! I've finished all the black outlines and am working on the final fill-ins. Then the beautiful red satin stitched words. Too much fun. It's always such an accomplishment to get the piece half done and then heading down the home stretch is simply the best.

I rarely have only one piece going at a time. For a change of pace and color, I started La-D-Da's Softly Walk on LL Pear, 40 count, using the called for threads.

I love how the rosebud is stitched. It reminds me of needlepoint.

I also started Blackbird Designs, Christmas Garden, stitched on Country French Chardonnay, 28 count, 1 thread over 1, using the Attic's silk conversion. Here's a close up pic of my progress.

Last week I started Birds of a Feather's Joyous Christmas. I'm stitching it on WDW Parchment, 35 count, 1 thread over 2, using the called for flosses. I scored this pattern on E-bay. I paid a pretty penny and it's worth every cent to me. My favorite part is baby Jesus in the manger. I love the simplicity of these old, out of print designs.

I'm so looking forward to some cooler weather. I love stitching outside on my lanai. This morning it was cooler...75 degrees...and the humidity was lower for about 5 minutes !! So...I'm stitching the time away in my stitching place...comfortable, well lit and COOL. Have a simply fabulous week and thanks for stopping by.
My package included a sister smile, and hugs and kisses !! Just simply the best !!
Carihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01228095430066252174noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2223613188561386671.post-63475321855758374312012-07-10T13:42:00.000-04:002012-07-10T13:42:35.404-04:00Practice PieceI decided to polish up my '1 over 1' stitching skills and did this piece. It's The Gilded Cage by Carriage House Samplings stitched on 32 count Lakeside Linen Lentil using the called for NPI fiber.

On '1 over 1' I can never tell the actual size of the piece from the picture. I need someone to put a quarter by it so I can tell. So here it is with my quarter..blurry and all. But you get the idea. It was a fun stitch and didn't take long at all.

And shouldn't I be starting my Christmas stitching in July? Well, yes I should, but I started my July stitching in July. Here's my start of Sheepish Designs 'Betsy' stitched on 35 count Weeks Dye Works Parchment.

The instructions called for DMC or NPI. I knew with my stash of 10,692 skeins of NPI it would be no problem pulling the called for colors. AND...you know this is coming...I only had ONE, yes...that's ONE of the called for colors!! DANG, DANG, DANG. Not to be disgruntled, I decided to check out my enormous stash of silks, pulled out the AVS drawer and used my 'on hand' colors. I think Betsy looks pretty darn good.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your stitching time!!

Here's my progress so far. I'm stitching this on Colorscapes 32 count color Herald, using 1 strand of silk floss over 1 thread. I'm using Attic Needlework's silk thread combo conversion for this piece. YUMMY !!!

The weather here yesterday was wet and wild. It's pretty calm this morning but we are expecting more wind and rain from Debby. We need the water and it's too hot to play outside anyway. So I guess I'll just stay inside with the pets in the A/C and S.T.I.T.C.H. Lucky me !! Have a simply fabulous week!

I finished Mary Roe last evening. The fabulous colors drew me to her and I was not disappointed. She's still a little wrinkled but I just don't like to iron my pieces. All the wrinkles will disappear when she gets pinned and framed. Mary Roe is by The Scarlett House. I stitched her on Lakeside Linen, 40 count Meadow Rue with the called for Belle Soie.

He tested negative to feline leukemia and HIV...yea!!! He received his distemper and rabies vaccinations and was returned to me last Wednesday. He made a mad dash to the swamp and ... Boo Hoo... I haven't seen him since. He was a little shy but boy could he eat. I hope he gets hungry enough to come back to the garden!
I've had the blahs so I thought I might do some knitting. This piece is a pattern by Cynthia Parker called Les Miserables. It is knit with Classic Elite Yarn Silky Alpaca Lace. I love the color and feel of this fiber. The wrap / scarf is felted after it's knit. Crazy cool and it's an easy pattern. Way too much fun. See the open raggedy parts caused by the dropped stitches. Very different and very fun.
And Olga the Cat by Plum Street Samplers.

So I started this post with a cat and ended with a cat!! The eyes on Olga remind me of my sweet Jaxon. His eyes are green too. So many times he looks at me and his eyelids are at 'half mast'.

Back to work...NOT...back to fiber fun!! Have a simply fabulous week !!Carihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01228095430066252174noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2223613188561386671.post-40071211280053841502012-04-25T11:32:00.001-04:002012-04-25T11:32:15.837-04:00A Good MixThis sweet guy showed up on my front porch. He was so distressed with his circumstances, he had licked his hind legs and belly clean of fur. I posted several photo's of him around the neighborhood and not one phone call. He was so very friendly and vocal and looking for love. I think someone dropped this guy off or left him when they moved away. BAD BAD BAD people. Nonetheless, my darling granddaughter Taylor fell in love with him and took him to his new forever home!! They are both in LOVE with each other!
Here's a pic of my progress on Mary Roe 1808 from The Scarlett House. I love the colors of Belle Soie in this piece. I'm now to the point that I get to start stitching the stem with 'Bahama Breeze' and 'Strawberry Shortcake' flowers. Oh YUM for me!
Thanks for stopping by to visit. Seems like I have a lot of stitching and knitting going on but no serious finishes. I'll have to work on that !!Carihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01228095430066252174noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2223613188561386671.post-8146197296731971842011-10-24T14:03:00.000-04:002011-10-24T14:03:01.737-04:00Cari MakesThere's a new craft magazine published in the UK called Mollie Makes. It is such a fun magazine. I subscribed to it and receive a digital copy...so 21st century here !! LOL

The cover of the first issue showed these adorable apple cozies...apple cozies?? Who would need or want an apple cozy...well ME, of course. I grabbed the pattern and some cotton yarn stash and started my first cozy. hmmmm......did I follow the instructions correctly??? Was there an error on the pattern?? I searched the internet for errata....none to be found. Here's my first apply cozy.

I ran out of the green yarn so I added the blue and orange to finish the exact number of rounds called for in the pattern. Yikes...how huge are the apples in the UK...papaya maybe but an apple??
Here's a new little stranger. I'll eventually trap, neuter and release her/him into my garden. It's a lovely place to grow up! Good food and great entertainment with the bird feeder close by.
Here's a female Cardinal and a tiny Titmouse (I think) feed away. Yesterday the male Cardinal was dive bombing the Blue Jay. I love watching the birds and squirrels in the backyard.

Most of you have your lovely fall flowers blooming like crazy. At this time of year a get a couple of fun orchids blooming. This orange vanda is brighter than the pic...it must of been overcast yesterday.

And here's a sweet lavender baby sweater I've been working on. I'm getting ready to start the sleeves. The entire sweater is knit in the round, top down so it's really a quick knit and so CUTE.

And my lame progress on 'And All Was For An Appil'. This is a great piece to stitch on when I'm with a group. I plan ahead and do a good amount of the outline on the piece. Then at stitch I get to fill in and visit (a nice way to say...run my mouth) without having to frog.

So that's my update. The weather is starting to change in the sense that it's cooler with lower humidity one day, then hotter and high humidity the next. I don't mind the temperature fluctuation, but high humidity is the PITS....and I do mean sweaty pits...along with the head, back chest...you get the idea !!

Thanks for visiting and happy NEEDLEWORK !!
